Resolving Session Time-Out Errors

Tips and Tricks: Resolving Session Time-Out Errors

The Session Time-Out message is normally displayed after several hours have elapsed since your last interaction with the server. If this happens, you will need to login again. This is setup for your security, in case you forget to close your session and walk away from your computer. If you're receiving session timeout errors and having trouble logging in, there are a few easy steps you can take to correct the problem.

Reset Your Browser Settings

Applying the default settings in your web browser may resolve the issue. In order to do this:

IE

  • Open the Tools menu
  • Select Internet Options
  • Select the General tab
  • Click the Restore to Default button
  • Click OK
  • Try logging in again to see if the problem is resolved
Firefox
  • Open the orange Firefox menu
  • Select Options
  • Select the General tab
  • Click the Restore to Default button
  • Click OK
  • Try logging in again to see if the problem is resolved

Change the Content Filter Setting

If Content Filtering is enabled, it may cause a time-out error. To change this setting:

IE

  • Open the Tools menu
  • Select Internet Options
  • Select the Content tab
  • Look for the Content Filter Setting and change to "Disable"
  • Try logging in again to see if the problem is resolved

These first two settings should fix the issue, but if you find the errors continue, try the following:

Foreign Language Setting

If you are using a foreign language browser, try changing your language settings:

IE

  • Open the View menu
  • Select the Encoding option
  • Select Western European

Firefox

  • Open the Tools Menu
